About – French-born Patrick Ibanez defines himself as a documentary photographer. His work has been characterized as voyeuristic, cinematic, somewhat nostalgic, in his creative process he sets a scene of intimacy that allows him to capture his subjects at their proudest, most majestic moments. Having mastered a personal yet sophisticated technique, he tends to focus on the rawness of the moment. From his beginnings as a photographer, he has pushed the provocative, enigmatic side of his subjects, and as such his work as ushered in a new photographic sensibility.

Starting out as a graphic designer for French Vogue, he worked closely with the legendary photographer Guy Bourdin who mentored him and helped him develop an appreciation for bold, stark and timeless imagery.

His editorial work has appeared in French Vogue, Japanese Vogue, Spanish Vogue, The Face, Citizen K, Mixte, Italian Amica, Spur, Detour, V magazine, Visionaire, Ubikwist and more. He has been tapped to shoot advertising campaign for Paco Rabanne Perfumes, Pierre Cardin Perfumes, Daniel Swarovski, Mercedes-Benz, Kodak.

Among supermodels and luminaries, he has photographed celebrities as well as inspiring people. To name some of his most famous subjects, Rihanna, Shakira, Colin Farrell, Devon Aoki, Famke Janssen, Laetitia Casta, Hikaru Utada, John Lurie, Niels Arestrup, Peter Greenaway, Connie Nielsen, Diane Kruger.

He lives in New York City with his daughter.
